Black and White Winter Wedding

Winter is quickly approaching and I can’t believe it! The weather continues to cool down and the leaves are beginning to fade. But, winter is so much more than the weather. The season brings new style opportunities, the holidays, and a black and white wedding at Millwick in Los Angeles.

Attire & Floral Accessories: Black & White Wedding

The contrast between the all-white wedding dress with the groom’s and the wedding party members’ all-black outfits was stunning. They all completed their looks with white floral accessories. I added some greenery to the boutonnieres and bouquets to soften the final styles.

If you love black and white but are worried about this combination being too harsh, fresh florals work wonders! I also recommend utilizing different textures in your attire and decor along with the flowers. Notice the different wedding party dress silhouettes and the different finishes on the fabric of the suits.

Outdoor Ceremony

Millwick venue offers a beautiful courtyard for an outdoor ceremony. This is an oasis of green foliage combined with the industrial brick walls of the building. The couple said “I do” under a gold arch adorned with white floral pieces. I added matched greenery and white floral-filled aisle markers complete with romantic candles. Hints of tropical themes added a unique touch to this ceremony space. Look at the printed seating and birds of paradise plants!

A perk about hosting a winter wedding in L.A? You can have an outdoor ceremony even within the last few months of the year! Even with all of the plants in the courtyard and tropical print on the seating, the floral designs still remained true to the season. The wedding party members also elevated the space! Down to the outfits, every detail counts.

The Couple

It’s time to celebrate this couple. After the ceremony, they captured photos under the arch. They could not stop smiling the entire day! Leave the arch in place after the ceremony even if you will be utilizing it for your reception later so that you can grab couple’s photography without any guests in the backdrop. Or, you may choose a first look and adventure to the ceremony space in advance.

They also explored the city finding a fun rooftop location for more photos. Some of my favorite moments from this aspect of the day are in front of the colorful mural.

Reception Decor

The party moved indoors for the reception. I balanced the industrial venue with white florals and greenery. The modern wooden tables and black metal chairs continued to incorporate the color palette. Of course, I can’t forget about those cool place settings that included black plates. I kept the florals delicate, adding various bud vases to fill the tables. There are so many details to discover. I love making the florals for each wedding an immersive experience.
